Rowan Berry Necklace

Rowan Berry NecklaceLarge red Rowan berries are strung on a red silk-wool blend for this traditional European charm for house blessing and protection. Like the apple, Rowan berries contain a five-pointed star – the sacred pentagram of protection and magic. Each berry on the necklace is pain-stakingly pierced through the star when strung. Rowan is a tree sacred to the Goddess Brighid and was once highly revered by the ancient Celts and Gaels. Rowan wood and berries have been used in traditional charm making for millennia for protection from the unseelie fairies, ghosts, witchcraft, illness, and those intending you harm.

There are many ways to use Rowan berry strands: Use to decorate your Yule tree; tack under the beam of the front door of your house to protect and bless your home and all within it; add to sachets, charms, incenses, or potions to use the power of the Rowan tree; use to adorn statuary on your altar as an offering; wear when you are working with the fey and the spirits of the dead to protect you; or wear in rituals of Brighid, goddess of wisdom, intelligence, poetry, fire, the hearth, arts, and smithcraft. I’m sure you can think of many other uses as well!
